The forerunner to Rutland Vintners was established by Ruddles Brewery who began brewing beers in 1858 in Langham, Rutland. The original wine cellars were to be found beneath the brewery itself but moved to its current location just across the road in 1977. The building was formerly the brewery stables and is a charming thatched property.
Rutland Vintners was founded by Mr David Batten when the Ruddles pub estate was sold. In 1985 after 8 successful years as an independent company Rutland Vintners and the stable block were sold to Everards Brewery Ltd, the Leicester based brewer both the site and company are still owned by Everards today. The Horseshoe in Oakham also an Everards public house was the last public house built by Ruddles Brewery in 1964 and a strong link still exists between these two businesses today.
